2'' Spring Check Valve is non-return valve designed to allow fluid (typically water) to flow in one direction only and prevent backflow in fire protection systems. It plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and hydraulic stability of the fire fighting network.



 

Backflow Prevention

● The valve automatically closes when flow stops or reverses, preventing water from flowing backward from the system into the supply line or pump.

● This ensures the fire pump or water source is not contaminated or damaged by reverse flow

Fire Pump Discharge Protection

● Installed at the discharge side of the fire pump, it prevents water from returning to the pump when it stops operating

● Helps maintain prime pressure and prevents pump impeller reverse rotation

Jockey Pump Line Protection

● In systems with a jockey pump (pressure maintenance pump), a spring check valve ensures that when the main fire pump runs, high-pressure water does not flow back into the jockey pump line.

Zone or Sectional Isolation

● Used in fire hydrant or sprinkler system branches to isolate zones and prevent cross-flow between lines when pressure differentials occur.
